The couple has plans to focus on the master bath next, as well as improving the front yard so it is “in better shape”.
While it wasn’t always easy, it was worth the effort. The pair has worked hard and had slowly created their “Zen” space – calming, relaxing and the perfect place to unwind after a long day.
We asked Houston, 55, to tell us more:
Year your home was built: 1960
Square footage: 2,936
Architectural design: Ranch
Family: Gig Houston, married nine years and together 13 years. We have four children; I have six grandchildren and my husband has four grandchildren.
Time in current home: Six years. It’s in Dayton.
What changed your house into a home?: We have painted and remodeled the bathroom.
What is your favorite part of your home and why?: The living room, I think it’s because I love the layout. I think of it as my zen place.
Most difficult house project: The bathroom.
What was your inspiration for the project: It was old and outdated.
Future house projects: The master bathroom.
Advice to anyone looking to refresh or remodel their home: Be patient and don’t get overwhelmed. Take your time.
