Today will be sunny but Arctic air brings dangerous and bone-chilling cold.

The high for today will only reach near 21 degrees, but with the wind chill it will feel as low as 6 degrees below zero, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Those who go outside should dress in layers to keep warm and to avoid hypothermia and frostbite. Also, if it’s too cold for people outdoors, it’s too cold for pets, the Humane Society of Greater Dayton advises. Keep pets inside during cold weather. If pets cannot come inside, provide a dry, draft-free shelter and maintain access to non-frozen drinking water.

Tonight will be breezy with increasing clouds and a chance of snow after midnight. Gusts of 15 to 25 mph are possible. Lows will be around 7 degrees, though wind chills of zero to minus five degrees will be possible.

Snow accumulations of up to 2 inches are possible this evening into Thursday morning. Dayton is expected to get around half an inch, Hamilton 0.7 inch and Springfield 1.4 inches.

On Thursday, it will be cloudy with light winds and a chance of snow in the morning. Highs will be around 33 degrees.

Overnight, it will be breezy, with gradually decreasing clouds and lows around 22 degrees.

Clouds will increase further on Friday as temperatures rise to around 39 degrees.

On Friday night, it will be breezy with increasing clouds and a chance of rain after midnight and showers likely in the early-morning hours. Temperatures won’t fall much overnight, with lows around 34 degrees.
