They made 29 of 60 shots (48.3%), went 8 of 21 from 3 and had a 41-29 rebounding edge with Michael Imariagbe snagging 12.
They’re 8-8 overall and 2-3 in the Horizon League.
“You can talk all about (winning), but guys need to step out there and get a little bit of success and feel some of that momentum. That’s how you create sustained habits, sustained belief. They’ve got to see it work — regardless of the opponent,” coach Clint Sargent said.
The Phoenix (2-14, 0-5), who played without star guard Anthony Roy for undisclosed reasons for the fourth straight game, continued their slide under rookie coach Doug Gottlieb, losing for the 11th straight time.
Playing for his fourth school in four years, Roy is averaging 25.7 points, and they needed his scoring prowess.
They were held without a point from 11:26 in the first half to 3:17, going from a 12-11 deficit to 30-11.
“Green Bay is a Division I team. They’ve had a tough year of adversity and a lot going on. But there’s plenty of kids on their roster who have come in here and lit us up. They’ve been good enough in pockets,” Sargent said.
“But it’s not about them. That’s the point I want to get across in the healthiest way. We’re going to just focus on how we compete and rest in that. Typically, that’s enough.”
Brandon Noel had 20 points, Logan Woods 14 and Jack Doumbia 11.
Woods and Alex Huibregtse had five assists each.
Injured point guard Keaton Norris missed his third straight game.
Trying to improve bench production, Sargent lifted the redshirt off freshman forward Andrea Holden. The Hamilton product had 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting and six rebounds in 21 minutes.
The Raiders had 37 reserve points against South Florida and 34 at Oakland. But in the previous three games, Youngstown State had a 32-13 edge in back-up points, Eastern Michigan 23-13 and Cleveland State 28-5.
Holden led them to a 18-16 edge against GB.
The Raiders even infused a little fun into the action. Huibregtse had a 2-on-1 fastbreak and threw a nifty behind-the-back pass to Woods for a layup.
“It’s definitely been rough,” Noel said of going three weeks without a win. “You never want to go on a losing streak. We’ve been on the road, and we’re trying to get those games because it really helps you out league-standings-wise.
“There’s not much we can do about it now — just keep playing hard like we did tonight.”
Green Bay went 18-14 overall and 13-7 in the league last year under coach Sundance Wicks, who parlayed his one season of success into the coaching job at Wyoming.
The Phoenix were 3-29 and 2-18 in 2022-23 and have been dismal again in the first half of this season under Gottlieb, who still has a five-day-a-week show on Fox Sports Radio.
Though he doesn’t have any coaching experience, his father, Bob Gottlieb, had a 62-70 record in five years at Milwaukee in the late 1970s. He went 1-1 against the Raiders.
