The 88th Air Base Wing is responsible for security and infrastructure on the Air Force base.
The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force was also closed Monday, and announced Monday evening that it will be closed Tuesday.
So are the Air Force Museum Foundation and the National Aviation Hall of Fame.
All events and activities scheduled at the museum in the near-term will be cancelled or postponed, the museum said.
“While we regret the inconvenience that the closure of the museum will cause, it is a necessary step to take given the current elevated risks associated with severe weather,” the museum said in a statement Sunday evening.
Wright-Patterson Air Force Base has a working population of about 38,000 people, higher than any other single-site concentration of employment in the state of Ohio.
As of Monday morning, snow total reports on the National Weather Service website included 5.5 inches in both West Carrollton and southern Centerville. There were multiple reports of over 6 inches of snow in the Cincinnati area, as well as 5.8 inches near Hamilton. The Cincinnati airport, which is in northern Kentucky, reported 8.4 inches of snowfall.
