Those interested in filling the vacancy can submit their resume and a letter of recommendation to Clerk of Council Kara Landis at the Trotwood Government Center during normal business hours, by mail, or via email to klandis@trotwood.org.
Applicants must be a qualified elector, resident of the city for at least one year, and a resident of Ward 3 at the time of application. Council members may not hold any other elected position or hold any employment with the city during their term.
Resumes will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27.
Vaughn submitted his intent to resign in a one-sentence notice to Mayor Yvette Page on Dec. 5.
“It feels like the right time to move on to pursue other interests that I have put on hold for many years,” Vaughn said in a separate comment, in which he thanked Trotwood residents for their continued trust in him. “I am proud to have contributed to the city’s recent successes in attracting new businesses and residential development. I also want to express my confidence in the current council and say it was an honor to serve with them.”
A resident of Trotwood for more than 30 years, Vaughn is serving his sixth term on council. He was first elected in 2002.
The chosen candidate will serve the remainder of Vaughn’s term, which expires Dec. 31, 2025. They will then be required to seek re-election to remain in the seat.
