With Winter Restaurant Week about a week away, the Miami Valley Restaurant Association (MVRA) is hosting a sneak peek event Wednesday, Jan. 22 at The Steam Plant in downtown Dayton.

“Sneak Peek to Winter Restaurant Week” will feature samples from 13 local restaurants.

“I think it’s a great way for restaurants and the community to connect,” said Amy Zahora, executive director of the MVRA. “It’s not just about great food, but it’s about community and getting to know the restaurant owners and chefs. People really enjoy that.”

Restaurants planning to participate include:

  • All the Best Deli
  • Amber Rose Restaurant and Catering
  • CBCB (Cold Beer and Cheeseburgers) Bar & Gril
  • Coco’s Bistro
  • Condado Tacos
  • Crooked Handle Brewing Co.
  • Dewberry 1850
  • El Meson
  • The Florentine Restaurant
  • Greek Street
  • Morgan’s
  • Primo Italian Steakhouse
  • Rip Rap Roadhouse

Start the night off with soup or chili from CBCB or albondigas soup from El Meson.

Follow it up with buffalo chicken tacos from Condado Tacos, hulli chicken sliders from Crooked Handle, a grilled beer and molasses marinated pork chop with sweet caramelized onion and bourbon apple butter on creamy garlic chive mashed potatoes from Dewberry, a grilled pork ribeye and chowder from The Florentine or Tuscan cheese ravioli with blackened chicken from Rip Rap Roadhouse.

For dessert, try cheesecake from All the Best Deli, house made baklava from Greek Street or bread pudding from Amber Rose.

Menus are still in the works for Coco’s Bistro, Morgan’s and Primo Italian Steakhouse.

The sneak peek event will be followed by Winter Restaurant Week running from Jan. 26 to Feb. 2.

“It’s good to get out and support the restaurants right now because this is their slower time,” Zahora said. “That’s why we do restaurant week at the end of January.”

Winter Restaurant Week encourages the community to try more than 30 participating restaurants. Each restaurant will have a special curated menu featuring multiple courses for one price or a meal deal for two people.

This year, meals start at $20.25 and $1 from every meal sold will be donated to a nonprofit. Aiming for something new, many restaurants are offering a lunch deal during restaurant week.
