A man is in stable condition and a suspect is in custody after a shooting outside a Sunoco gas station in Dayton early Tuesday afternoon.

The shooting was reported at 12:42 p.m. at 2626 E. Third St., according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

“Somebody is shooting,” a 911 caller said. “I don’t know what happened.”

Officers found a 35-year-old man in the parking lot with a gunshot wound, said Dayton police Lt. Eric Sheldon.

He was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition as of Wednesday.

A 25-year-old suspect was located and arrested.

Another person, who witnesses the shooting, was also taken into custody during the investigation, Sheldon said.

An argument reportedly took place prior to the shooting.

Detectives from Dayton Police Department’s Violent Offender Unit are investigating.

The case will be presented to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office for the consideration of charges.
