A two-vehicle crash in downtown Dayton resulted in a car hitting two poles and a woman being taken to the hospital with serious injuries Monday.

The crash was reported at 8:55 a.m. in the 200 block of Wayne Avenue near Jackson and East Fourth streets.

A 2003 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling northwest in the left lane on Wayne Avenue when the driver attempted to change lanes near the Jackson Street intersection, according to a crash report filed by Dayton police.

The truck hit the front right bumper of a 2021 Mini Cooper in the right lane.

The impact caused the Mini Cooper to go off the right side of the road and hit an AES Ohio utility pole and then an RTA pole, according to the report.

The Mini Cooper had heavy front-end damage, and crews had to extract the 30-year-old driver from the car.

Dayton Fire Department medics transported her to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries.

Debris from the crash broke the door at a Wayne Avenue business. The AES utility pole was knocked to the ground, causing a power line to hang low over the street.
