Coroner: Man found in wooded area in Harrison Twp. died by suicide

A man whose body was found in a wooded area in Harrison Twp. in March died by suicide, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

Shannon D. Johnson, 43, was found in the 2200 block on Onaota Avenue near Montevideo Drive on March 23.

Around 8:32 a.m., Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area after a man said a woman flagged him down and said her parents were being held hostage in the woods, according to dispatch records.

The man noted the woman was talking to herself and may have mental health issues.

While on the scene, deputies located Johnson’s body. It’s not clear how long his body was in the woods.
