A 32-year-old Columbus man taken into police custody following a pursuit early Tuesday is accused of kicking in a Miamisburg apartment door and threatening to shoot people inside.

Dion Allen Furlow was arraigned Thursday in Miamisburg Municipal Court for two counts each of aggravated burglary, and having weapons while under disability and single counts of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer and menacing by stalking, all felony charges. His bond was set at $300,000.

Miamisburg police were dispatched around 2:15 a.m. to the 2900 block of Loffer Court — off North Springboro Pike (state Route 741) — after a man identified as Furlow kicked in the door to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment while her four children also were home.

“Fearing for her safety, she jumped out of the second story window to escape from Dion,” the affidavit stated.

Furlow had a gun and immediately ran to the woman’s bedroom and later threatened to start shooting if she did not come out, according to the court document.

As officers arrived, Furlow ran out a back door, but officers lost sight of him after a short foot pursuit. A Montgomery County Sheriff’s K-9 and Miamisburg police drones were unable to find him.

Officers spotted the suspect just after 5 a.m. leaving the apartment complex in his SUV and tried to pull him over near state Route 741 and Alex Bell Road. However, Furlow briefly stopped and then fled north on state Route 741. The pursuit traveled through several jurisdictions before reaching Interstate 70 East.

Furlow’s SUV lost its driver’s side front tire during the pursuit, and officers from the Huber Heights Police Division placed tire deflation devices over the interstate, which flatted the driver’s side rear tire. Furlow eventually pulled over just west of I-675 and was taken into custody without further incident, police said.

Furlow remains held in the Montgomery County Jail.

The incident remains under investigation by the Miamisburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Section.
