A Dayton-area store that has helped thousands of Miami Valley residents and beyond sell their gently used furniture, home décor, housewares and collectibles plans to close its doors this month.

Kim Passineau, founder and owner of Home2Home Brand New & Consigned at 261 E. Alex Bell Road in Centerville’s Cross Pointe Centre, told customers about the closing via email Thursday night.

“I have been struggling the past year to decide if I wanted to take advantage of the 5-year extension on my lease at Cross Pointe or retire and enjoy the fruits of my labor at age 67,” Passineau said. “After countless twists and turns, I decided it was time to close my precious Home2Home.”

Home2Home opened in November 2004 in Normandy Square Shopping Center and moved to Cross Pointe in 2007. After Bed Bath & Beyond moved to another shopping center in 2017, Home2Home took its 30,000-square-foot space place the following year.

Home 2 Home does not have an exact closing date in mind, Passineau said. “It will be sometime in January; once the space is empty,” she said.

The business once offered clothing consignment, but discontinued that when sales did not support it.

Passineau said Ashley Brown, Home2Home’s first employee, has been with her “every step of the way.”

“We have met so many wonderful people and will carry the memories with us for the rest of our lives,” Passineau said. “We will shed some tears in the coming days as we prepare to close, but they will mostly be tears of pride and happiness in appreciation for all we’ve been able to accomplish with the help of the entire Miami Valley and our wonderful staff!”
