The Montgomery County coroner ruled the August death of a 16-year-old boy as an accident.

David Crowder Jr. died from multiple drug intoxication, including fentanyl and carfentanil, Montgomery County Coroner Kent Harshbarger said.

Just before 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 7, Dayton police responded to the 100 block of Hedges Street for a report of a dead body.

When officers arrived, they found a deceased 16-year-old boy, later identified as Crowder, Dayton police Lt. Eric Sheldon said.

A 911 caller reported her husband said their son’s body was stiff, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch records.

The teen wasn’t breathing and the caller reportedly said they didn’t see any blood.
