Incumbent candidates Mary Kay Smith, Holly Herbst, and Scott Fullam have been re-elected to the Vandalia-Butler school board, according to final, unofficial results from the Montgomery County Board of Elections.

Results show 27.42% of votes were cast for Smith, 27.89% for Herbst, 24.62% for Fullam, and 20.07% for candidate Ryan Chewning.

Results will be certified by the board of elections on Nov. 19.

Two of the triumphant candidates reflected on their re-elections Wednesday morning.

Smith said she’s thankful for the community’s “vote of confidence.”

“Now, our work continues. We will do our very best to be thoughtful stewards, as well as student and community advocates,” she said.

Herbst also categorized the re-election of herself and fellow incumbents Smith and Fullam as a vote of trust in their work on the board.

“Voters chose continuity, returning all three incumbents to keep the momentum going for our students,” Herbst said.

Fullam could not be reached for comment.
