People in Dayton can report some crimes and minor traffic crashes from their computer or cellphone using the city’s new online reporting system.

The Dayton Online Reporting System (DORS) is available at www.daytonohio.gov/FilePoliceReport. DORS can be used to file reports for complaints including the following:

  • Animal bites
  • Breaking and entering
  • Criminal damaging/vandalism
  • Fraud
  • Identity theft
  • Lost property
  • Property damage (accidental)
  • Telephone harassment
  • Theft (including vehicle-related thefts and gas drive offs)
  • Traffic accidents (those needing a report number only)

Online complaints should include as much detail as possible in the narrative. Photos and videos can also be submitted through a link that will be sent to the reportee if they indicate they have pictures or videos in the narrative.

For incidents with a known suspect, people should still call and report the crime so an officer can respond or so it can be handled by the Telephone Reporting Unit.

The Dayton Police Department’s non-emergency line is 937-333-2677. People should continue to call 911 for emergencies.
