Jacob Osterhaus, 25, was also pronounced dead at the house. Harshbarger reported he died by suicide.
Dayton police confirmed Tuesday the double shooting is considered a murder-suicide. The investigation is still open.
Shortly before 1 p.m. on Nov. 7, police responded to the 1600 block of Russet Avenue for a reported shooting.
Maj. Jason Hall said officers found two people, later identified as Stovall and Osterhaus, with gunshot wounds.
“Unfortunately both of those individuals succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead on the scene,” he said.
A 911 caller told police dispatchers a woman was on the sidewalk in front of the house, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center records.
“She came out yelling help and then it seemed like something happened,” he said.
The caller couldn’t tell if the woman was breathing. He did not report seeing a shooter.
Hall previously said everyone at the scene was accounted for and investigators were not looking for any suspects.
