A Kettering pediatric medical practice closed Tuesday after a car crashed through the office building’s exterior wall late that morning.

“No patients were injured. One staff member is being evaluated,” said Dr. David Roer of Pediatric Associates of Dayton Inc., 5450 Far Hills Ave. at the corner of East Rahn Road. “We are very fortunate that no one was seriously injured.”

The car crashed through the white painted brick building and part way into the office around 11 a.m. when the driver put his foot on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal while trying to park, said officer Cynthia James, Kettering Police Department public information officer. The driver was not cited because the crash happened on private property, she said.

One person was taken to Kettering Health Main Campus by medics who was suffering from pain on the left side after getting struck by debris in the crash, James said.

The pediatric practice is rearranging appointments to other offices and expected to know by later Tuesday whether it would be open Wednesday, according to its Facebook page.

A photograph of the interior of the medical practice showed where the car pushed in the wall, knocking a large desk back into the room, and leaving printers, boxes and other items strewn around the room.

The building was inspected by Patrick Hillier, the city architect, who confirmed it was structurally sound for business, said Amanda Harold, Kettering’s communications and engagement manager.
