At 6:54 p.m. Monday, Miami County sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting in the 5000 block of Monroe-Concord Road, about 3 miles northeast of West Milton.

They arrived to find a man, later identified as Davis Sr., shot with a handgun. He was transported to the hospital via a medical helicopter, where he died from injuries, according to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said the initial investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from an argument between the father and son.

Davis Jr. surrendered to deputies without incident and is being held in the Miami County Jail.

A preliminary court hearing in the case is scheduled for Jan. 7.

The shooting remains under investigation.
