A person that died in an apartment fire Saturday has been identified.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 34-year-old Dwayne Harbour Jr.

Harbour Jr. was removed from the building and transported to Miami Valley Hospital Saturday, where he died from his injuries.

Dayton crews responded to reports of a structure fire at the 800 block of Riverview Terrace around 5:20 a.m. Saturday, according to a statement from the Capt. Brad French for the Dayton Fire Department.

“Crews began arriving within approximately five minutes and found heavy fire conditions in a three-story apartment building,” according to the fire department. “Multiple hose lines were deployed to control the fire, and crews rapidly completed searches of the building for any trapped occupants.”

Two additional victims escaped from the structure prior to the fire department’s arrival with unknown injuries and were transported to a local hospital as well.

Multiple pets were located and removed from the structure, the statement said.

“Investigations Unit has determined that the cause of the fire was accidental,” French said.
