A grand jury indicted two men accused of racing when one of them hit four vehicles, killing a dog in one of the cars, in Kettering earlier this year.

Luis A. Valentine, 24, and Emmanuel Bello Jose Flores, 20, both of Dayton, are facing vehicular assault and street racing charges in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

Flores is facing a second vehicular assault charge and one count of failure to stop after an accident.

The street racing charge is a misdemeanor.

They’re scheduled to be arraigned July 22.

Around 4:45 p.m. April 22, Kettering police responded to the area of Wilmington Pike and Eureka Drive for a crash.

Valentine was driving a 2015 Hyundai Accent on Wilmington Pike while racing Flores, who was driving a 2015 Infiniti, according to a crash report.

Valentine hit a 2025 Tesla Y head-on as it was attempting to turn left onto Farrington Drive. He then hit a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was stopped on Farrington Drive.

The Hyundai continued into a parking lot and hit two parked, unoccupied vehicles, according to the report.

Flores reportedly parked out of sight before walking to the scene.

The Tesla had a dog inside which died due to the crash, the report said.

Kettering medics assessed Valentine, the drivers of the Tesla and Jeep and three children in the Tesla for minor injuries at the scene.
