A teenaged boy who died after a shooting in Dayton on Sunday has been identified.

Hillary Farr, 17, was pronounced dead at Miami Valley Hospital, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

Crews responded to reports of a shooting around 8:30 p.m. in the 3800 block of Alvin Avenue, according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

Police officers found a 17-year-old boy, later identified as Farr, suffering from a gunshot wound, Lt. Eric Sheldon at the Dayton Police Department said.

Sheldon said the teenager was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

A 911 caller said a shooting took place and she heard “popping while I was cooking.”

Detectives from the Dayton Police Department’s Homicide Unit are investigating the shooting.
