1 in life-threatening condition, 1 seriously injured after single-vehicle crash in Dayton

At least one person is in life-threatening condition after a single-vehicle crash in Dayton Sunday morning.

Dayton crews responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash around 2:05 a.m. in the area of U.S. 35 and Abbey Avenue, according to James Rider, police information specialist at the Dayton Police Department.

The driver of a Chevrolet HHR went west on U.S. 35 and crossed the intersection at Abbey Avenue, drove off the right side of the roadway and collided with a guardrail end, Rider said.

The vehicle then collided with an overhead light, flipped multiple times and landed on its roof in the grassy field north of the roadway.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her passenger was also transported to an area hospital for serious injuries.

Detectives from the Traffic Services Unit are investigating the crash.
