A teenager is dead after a reported accidental shooting in Trotwood on Monday.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the 300 block of Grand Avenue at 9:42 a.m. for the reported shooting.

A 911 caller said that they heard a gunshot and saw the victim come out of a room screaming. The caller reported the shooting was believed to be accidental, and that the victim was 18.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as 18-year-old Joshua Edward Rogers, who was pronounced dead at Miami Valley Hospital about an hour after the shooting was reported.

Trotwood police said people in the house started to take the victim to a local hospital but were intercepted by medics on the way.

Police said that medics rendered aid immediately, but the victim still died due to his wound.

Minors were involved in the shooting, police said, but confirmed that the victim was not a minor.

The shooting remains under investigation.
