A woman has been accused by police of shooting a man at a New Year’s party in Clearcreek Twp.

Olivia Marie Clendenin, 28, of Franklin was arraigned Friday in Warren County Municipal Court on charges of attempted murder, felonious assault, improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and a misdemeanor count of using weapons while intoxicated. She pleaded not guilty.

Judge Gary Loxley set bail at $200,000 with no 10% payment authorized for release. A temporary protection order was issued for the gunshot victim, and a no-contact order for the seven witnesses in the case. The judge also ordered Clendenin held on electronic home detention if she posts bail, and that she not possess firearms.

Clearcreek Twp. police were dispatched around 5 a.m. Wednesday to a house in the 5500 block of Dearth Road for a report of a drive-by shooting. The location is about a mile south of Springboro High School and a mile west of Ohio 741.

When officers arrived, they found a 36-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He is expected to recover, Clearcreek Lt. Wallace Stacy said Friday.

The party was at the home of Clendenin’s estranged husband, who invited several people for a New Year’s Eve party, including Clendenin’s boyfriend, Stacy said.

Stacy said that when Clendenin showed up, she was apparently angry with both men for hanging out together. When she left the party, “she drove through the front yard and fired shots toward the house.”

There were people both inside and outside the house at the time of the shooting. The man hit by gunfire was standing on the porch and had not been involved in any arguments with Clendenin, Stacy said.

Clendenin then crashed her mother’s 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee a short distance away in the 3800 block of McLean Road in Franklin Twp., police said. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash. According to a crash report, Clendenin suffered minor injuries when she struck a guardrail and utility pole at a curve. She was cited for a misdemeanor OVI, the report stated.

Clendenin is next scheduled to appear Thursday in court for a preliminary hearing.

The shooting remains under investigation, and Stacy said detectives are still trying to determine motivations in the case.
